RAF D-Day Pilot Bear
Exclusive to the Royal Air Force Museum
To mark the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, this year’s bear represents a Flight Sergeant flying fighter missions as part of the RAF’s 2nd Tactical Air Force on June 6th 1944.
Over 5,500 RAF aircraft of all types flew sorties on D-Day. Around 1,800 RAF personnel also landed on the beaches of Normandy that day, many helping to establish airstrips and to maintain and arm the arriving allied aircraft.
